MUDHOL D.T aka Vasantraoraje Ghorpade

The D.T aka Vasantraoraje Tatyasaheb  Ghorpade ,brother  branch of H.H Bhairavsinhraje (the last Raja of Mudhol).

Bhimraoraje grandfather of Vasantraoraje used to sit in Darbar hall and also looked after the arrangements , therefore had a great hold on people and contributed hugely for public welfare.

What was interestingly from Generations , that these Ghorpade’s used to only marry the daughters of Ghatge’s and the daughters of ghorpade’s tied the knots  with the Shinde Inamdars of machuknur’s only.

Along to that of the ‘Rajwada ‘i.e Palace, there was a ‘Mansion’ in Sutthatti  where  D.T aka Vasantraoraje used to reside with his family. He contributed in building the Mahadeva temple which is the ‘Gramdevat  i.e common worship place’ for the people in Mudhol.

In 1947, H.H Bhairavsinh maharajsaheb signed off Mudhol  Sansthan with the Union of India so  Vasantraoraje came to poona along with maharajsaheb . Not for livelihood but to serve the people D.T aka Vasantraoraje joined the police department as the special crime officer whereas H.H Bhairavsinh maharaj served the Indian Army . Vasantraoraje never wore a Uniform , he used to be in civil dress and had the permission to carry a weapon i.e piston where very few were allowed by the department.

D.T aka Vasantraoraje married Sulochanadevi and have only son Girishraje who completed his education in poona . Girishraje is passionate about cricket and played at various district level matches and clubs. Lateron he was also selected in Ranji cricket team but never played  due to his personal reasons.

Girishraje married Madhugandha aka madhuridevi of sangli and gave birth to Rohitraje. The family resides at Giriraj bungalow in poona. Rohitraje being the grandson of D.T aka vasantraoraje is leading the legacy and is passionately glorifying the history of the family by his activities like donations,social work and historical enhancement programmes .

Recently Rohitraje got married to a family friend’s daughter named Poonam and having a baby Shanvikaraje. The family still have around 64 acres of lands and some private properties in Mudhol and Pune.
